Privacy policy
STAR ALARM ("the app") is run by Werner Technology. This is what the app handles and how.
No account
We never ask for an email address or phone number. On first start the app gets a random ID for this device; the server keeps only its hash.
What the server keeps
- The app's language
- The name and reading you enter, and the voice and video clips that say it
- Photos you upload (of a face), and the videos, voices and scripts made from them
- Notices (review started, ready…) and which messages were played
- A hash of the connecting IP address, to limit abuse (the address itself is not kept)
Your alarm times and settings stay on your phone and are never sent. The app has no ads and no analytics tools.
How it is used
Only to make the voices and videos that wake you, and to deliver them to your phone. A caller made from your photo is shown to no one but you. Photos are reviewed before they can be used.
Services we use
- DeepSeek: writing the messages' scripts (it gets only the role and the language, never your name or photo)
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: reading the scripts and your name aloud
- Vast.ai GPU servers: making the lip-synced videos from a photo and a voice; each server is destroyed when its work is done
- Vultr (Tokyo): the app's server
How long, and deleting
Until you delete it. In the app, Settings › Delete all my data removes this device's data from the server at once; photos and your name can also be deleted one by one. Backups keep it for up to 14 days. See Deleting your data.
Photos
Upload only photos of yourself, or of someone who agreed to it.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 13.
